J. Winston Busby is a Member in the law firm of Carney Dye, LLC. Winston’s practice focuses on tax, estate and trust planning, wealth preservation planning, and probate. He provides counsel to closely-held business owners, individuals, and families, assisting with generational transfers and succession and tax planning. He assists clients with the formation and transfer of closely-held business interests for both tax planning and wealth preservation purposes. Winston often advises clients on tax planning issues as it relates to both income and transfer taxes. He also assists fiduciaries with the administration of trusts and estates.
Winston is a past Board Member for the American Cancer Society of Central Alabama. He was a member of the 2019 – 2020 Class of Project Corporate Leadership. Winston has authored numerous publications and has been a frequent speaker in the area of tax and estate planning.
Winston was previously a shareholder at a large regional law firm where he assisted clients with tax and estate planning issues. He graduated from Auburn University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration where he majored in Finance and minored in History. Winston attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2012 and served as the Managing Editor of the Cumberland Law Review.
